Your Internet Marketing Partner
Hi welcome to my website. My name is John Austin and I am an Internet Marketing consultant and owner of e-small.biz. My business started in 2002 providing website design and development to small businesses in the Denver area. Since that time my business has grown into a more strategic role by helping companies and individuals leverage the Internet to grow their business and make money on the Internet. The website still plays a major role in the process, but the website has now become just a cog in the wheel of Internet marketing.
Internet marketing involves several areas that are covered on this website. The purpose of this site is to get you thinking about what is involved in Internet Marketing. Internet marketing is an ever-changing landscape that can be overwhelming. The biggest mistake that you can make is to dive in without first spending some time coming up with a plan of attack. In my experience this plan will change over time as new avenues into Internet marketing are introduced, but you need a starting point.
First we start out with what I like to call "Researching The Niche". It doesn't matter if you have a new business or an existing one, if you have a product to sell to provide a service, the first step to figure out if you can make money selling your wares on the web. Researching your niche involves analyzing the market place as it pertains to the World Wide Web. This step includes looking at how potential buyers are finding your products and services via the Internet. In this step we also look at your competition, how people are searching for your product and service, and how Google views your market.
A point to make here is that we look at several different aspects of your business to determine if it is feasible to push your products and services via the Internet. We look not only at how competitive, and costly, it is to advertise on the Internet, but we also look at how your potential customers are searching for you. And we also look at how your products and services are viewed by Google. It is very important to understand the world of Internet marketing from Google's viewpoint and I'll show you some of the tools that Google provides to get a better look.
Once we are done researching your niche and have made a decision that there is return-on-investment, then we look at several different areas of your Internet presence. Your Internet presence is not just your company website. Your Internet presence is your brand, your value proposition, and your identity on the Internet. We have to look at other areas besides your website. We have to look at your expertise and how can leverage social media, article marketing, e-mail marketing and all the other resources available to you to build your reputation on the Internet.
Step 1: Researching Your Niche

Where's The Profit?
I look at the profit areas on two levels:
- Level 1
- Products
- Services
- Expertise
- Level 2
- Advertising
- Affiliate Marketing
The first level is where our initial focus will be. The second level is where we want to be.
